At ZS, we believe that taking care of our people is not just a responsibility but a core value that drives our success. Fostering a culture of inclusion means creating an environment where every individual feels valued and supported, allowing them to thrive both personally and professionally. This commitment to our employees is reflected in various initiatives aimed at promoting health and well-being. A recent example is our Trinidad office’s proactive effort in organizing breast cancer screenings, a demonstration of our dedication to the health of our team members and their families. By prioritizing inclusivity and health, we empower our people to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Where passion changes lives
Rachael Deonarine serves as a customer success lead on our platforms and products team at ZS’s Trinidad office, where she is dedicated to driving client success through innovative solutions. Since joining ZS, Rachael has actively engaged with our diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, particularly as a local lead for the Caribbean offices with our internal group, Women@ZS. Women@ZS helps women build successful careers by enabling professional growth, launching connections and supporting individual choices.
“Breast cancer runs in my family,” Rachael says. “I’ve seen the importance of early detection and community support. I want to make sure my fellow ZSers are also aware.”
The Pink Hibiscus Center in Port of Spain, Trinidad, offers breast ultrasounds specifically for women under 40, addressing a crucial need for early detection among younger women. Statistics show that early detection can increase the five-year survival rate of breast cancer to nearly 99%, making regular screenings vital. Understanding the importance of this, Rachael Deonarine took the initiative to rally the women in her office and organize a group screening day at the Pink Hibiscus Center. Thanks to ZS’s provided insurance benefits, this preventive care was financially accessible, reducing the barrier for her colleagues to access this critical health service. Rachael’s leadership not only promoted health awareness but also fostered a sense of community within her team.
“We made our appointments back-to-back so all the women in the office could go together,” Rachael says. “Having each other there made this very personal and scary situation less intimidating.”
At ZS, we are committed to providing benefits that prioritize the well-being of our people. From comprehensive healthcare coverage, childcare support and preventive services like breast cancer screenings, we aim to support our employees’ physical and mental health at every stage. These benefits are designed to empower our team to lead balanced, healthy lives, allowing them to bring their best selves to work. By offering resources that promote personal well-being, ZS ensures that our people are equipped to thrive both in their careers and beyond.
While ZS provides benefits to care for our people, we are also committed to doing work that cares for our community. ZS’s Women’s Health Expertise Hub is dedicated to bridging the gender divide in healthcare by addressing disparities in women’s health outcomes. The hub focuses on advancing innovative solutions to close gaps in treatment, research and access to care that have historically disadvantaged women. By leveraging deep expertise across a range of therapeutic areas, ZS is committed to transforming how women’s health is prioritized, ensuring equitable access to better care and improved health outcomes. ZS is elevating women’s health as a priority by helping our clients recognize that everyone, regardless of their field, is connected to women’s health in some way.
“Everyone tends to get very busy and forget about themselves and their health, myself included,” Rachael confesses. “Events like this help remind us that we’re all human, and that we must prioritize our health and take advantage of the benefits that ZS offers.”
