Prerak Gandhi, senior applied AI scientist in Bengaluru, has been instrumental in shaping Xperiment.AI for nearly two years. Prerak’s journey illustrates how ZS empowers our people to grow alongside our innovations.
Where passion changes lives
Prerak’s journey at ZS began in 2022, after earning his master’s in machine learning and data science at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in Mumbai, India. Initially engaged in an optimization and sentiment analysis project, he further honed his expertise by later transitioning to focus on Xperiment.AI.
Designed as a sister product to Personalize.AI, ZS’s flagship customer personalization engine, Xperiment.AI expands our suite of intelligent solutions. “Before a client can personalize, they need to know whether the consumer likes it or not,” explains Prerak. “When introducing new behaviors, we first need to understand what works and build a history around it across different types of customers.”
Xperiment.AI enables businesses to experiment rapidly and refine customer engagement strategies before full-scale deployment. It allows organizations to conduct A/B tests and multivariate experiments on different marketing tactics, such as promotional offers, messaging content and digital touch points, to identify what resonates best with their audience. The platform gathers real-time data on customer responses and behaviors, leveraging AI-driven analytics to uncover insights and trends. ZS recently partnered with an industry-leading bakery to help refine their customer outreach—experimenting with varied content, subject lines and mobile notifications to optimize offers and boost engagement. Does a 20% discount work better than a buy-one-get-one-free deal? Would a personalized greeting improve open rates? Businesses have always wondered how they can best engage with their customers, Xperiment.AI helped them find out.
The results were eye-opening. ZS’s work revealed surprising consumer behaviors driven by cognitive biases.
“We found that words like ‘treat’ boosted engagement, while ‘craving’ diminished it,” Prerak shares. “A ‘treat’ feels like a reward, whereas a ‘craving’ can seem like an obligation.”
Moreover, the research revealed that larger discounts aren’t always more effective. “A $7 offer may be more engaging for customers, but it’s less profitable for the client if a smaller offer can fulfill the same objective. It’s all about matching the right incentive to the right customer.”

As Prerak’s career has evolved, he’s added strategic client interactions alongside hands-on development. “We don’t just hand over the product and step away,” Prerak explains.
