ZS Cares empowers action for the greater good

ZSers around the world are known for creating impact where it matters. Even in the face of the pandemic, ZSers show that their resolve to get it right, treat people right and do the right thing not only holds firm, but stretches to world-positive economic, social and environmental humanitarian action.

“ZSers are bold, collaborative and committed,” says Managing Director Chris Wright, “and our firmwide ZS Cares program empowers us to unleash our skills and passion for the greater good.”

“Through ZS Cares, more than 1,069 ZSers dedicated over 14,500 hours in 2020 to drive change that improves lives.”

Through ZS Cares, more than 1,069 ZSers dedicated over 14,500 hours in 2020 to drive change that improves lives. Their impact across philanthropy, volunteering and pro bono consulting in partnership with non-profit organizations in their communities proves that when it matters most, ZSers turn crisis into opportunity. Read more about the difference ZSers are making around the world in the ZS Cares 2020 Annual Report.

Strategy Insights & Planning Associate Consultant Rebecca R. was part of the San Francisco ZS Cares team that worked with the 6-member grassroots organization Masks2All to achieve a goliath task – delivering more than 60,000 masks to unhoused individuals, whether in shelters or not. “Leading ZS Cares initiatives is the most rewarding part of my work at ZS,” she says. “Witnessing the ways our pro bono work impacts client organizations is meaningful and motivating. Professionally, I’ve gained invaluable experience that helps me grow as a leader on my client-facing work.”

Kimaya P., business operations consultant, has been involved in ZS Cares from organizing hands-on community events to creating a pro bono consulting team from the ground up. ZS Cares brought her together with colleagues who are also passionate about taking action to advance equitable outcomes for women, girls and gender equality. She says partnering closely with Women’s Way, a nonprofit in the Greater Philadelphia region, on two different multi-phase communications initiatives allowed her to see first-hand the positive impact of applying ZS expertise toward nonprofit strategic needs, to tackle issues together with and learn from colleagues with varying expertise and experience, and to develop a meaningful pro bono consulting engagement that brings value to both organizations.

The power to connect and create change is also transformative for ZSers. “My attitude towards life has changed. My soul urges me to work more for the development of society,” explains Eashita J., senior administrative assistant. Eashita worked with SHEOWS (The Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphan Welfare Society) to bring much-needed medical support and joy through recreational activities to the abandoned elderly of New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, India.

Together with fellow New Delhi-based ZSers, Business Operations Consultant Navendu S., demonstrates that ZS commitment is long term. In partnership with the SM Sehgal Foundation across three years, the team helped students in rural communities develop necessary life and digital education skills. Their efforts also improved hygiene and sanitation practices, as well as access to clean, renewable energy sources. “The journey taught me how to be a more resourceful leader,” says Navendu. “I’m happy the work we did improved the lives of over 200 students, and we’re working to replicate the business model in the nearby area, which would impact the lives of more than 350 students.”

ZS is a different kind of professional services firm – creating opportunity for ZSers to help communities improve access to life-saving resources, advance a more equitable society, deliver comfort and care and build life-sustaining skills.
