The artificial intelligence (AI) team at ZS focuses on leading-edge data science innovation using algorithms, machine learning, computer science and statistics to mine big and complex data sources. The team develops analytics solutions to help our clients make better fact-based decisions. We had a chance to sit down with Arindam Paul, one of our data science consultants in Bengaluru. Arindam talks about his passion for AI and how it is making a difference in healthcare.
Arindam has always been fascinated by the idea of being able to predict the future. “With the idea of how AI can help humans by solving simple to complex problems and empower them to pursue bigger goals, I am always looking for ways to contribute to the development of solutions or products in this area,” he says. “ZS helped me understand nuances of analytics and provided me with an opportunity to evolve into the data science track. I have never looked back since. It opened a plethora of experimental grounds for me to try out new algorithms to solve business problems and learn daily while working with the brightest minds in the industry.”
Where passion changes lives
Arindam talks passionately about an AI algorithm he helped build. “The Plug and Predict model uses the power of evolutionary algorithms to discover key patterns in patient journeys. The most amazing thing is how this algorithm uses data alone to automatically find expertise and information. This confirms my conviction that human interaction will always be necessary and that AI will only help humanity advance higher and faster.”
AI is a key player in the healthcare industry, providing solutions to patients, physicians, providers and pharmaceuticals. The impact of AI includes not only managing the massive data generated by clinical activities but also automating tasks to provide better healthcare at a significantly lower cost. Arindam asserts, “We expect ZS’s work to have a significant impact by assisting in the prediction of patient conditions to maintain health rather than a curative treatment approach.”
Arindam finds it immensely satisfying to work on challenging real-world problems, develop out-of-the-box solutions at ZS and see the real-time impact these solutions have on a global scale.
