This year, ZSers around the world continued to create positive change for our clients and communities. To celebrate the hard work and innovation of our global team, let’s look back at the milestones we reached in 2022.
Where passion changes lives
Expanding our reach
We continue to grow worldwide and are now celebrating over 12,000 ZSers! We welcomed nearly 4,700 new colleagues this year and promoted nearly 1,800. Click here to read about the more than 950 ZSers promoted just this summer alone.
We know innovation thrives at the intersection of unique experiences, beliefs and passions, and we continue to actively diversify our talent pool. In the U.S. alone, we attended six diverse hiring conferences and extended interviews to women, underrepresented minorities, the LGBTQIA+ community and veteran talent.
With this growth, we’ve been able to expand our reach and open five new offices around the world. We welcomed second offices in Pune and Bengaluru and opened new spaces in Copenhagen, Raleigh-Durham and Atlanta. We now have more than 30 offices across the globe, allowing us to connect with more clients and explore new ventures.
Innovating with industry leaders at Impact Summits
It has been three years since we gathered with clients and thought leaders for Impact Summit. To celebrate the return of this event, we hosted two summits, one in Boston and one in Basel, Switzerland. Both events challenged attendees—including leaders from Takeda Oncology, Janssen, AWS and more—to think about the future of connected healthcare. Learn more about the conversations here.
Expanding ZAIDYN™ to improve clinical trials
We expanded our digital life sciences platform, launching ZAIDYN Clinical Development. This platform empowers life sciences companies to break down silos in clinical trial design and planning, remove barriers to enrollment and engagement and bring better products to patients faster. To help guide our continued growth, we’ve expanded the ZAIDYN advisory board, welcoming Andreas Müller, Dr. Pallab Chatterjee and Amit Walia.
Formalizing our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) impact
We strive to deliver healthy, fair and sustainable outcomes for all by integrating ESG priorities into our work, partnerships and operations. We are uncovering new opportunities with our people, clients, suppliers and communities to advance health equity, create meaningful change and operate sustainably and responsibly. Read more here.
Switching to renewable energy in more offices
Pune, ZS’s largest office in terms of its people, switched to renewable electricity this year. This provided a large boost toward ZS’s goal of having renewable electricity across our offices. Overall, ZS has seen a 64% reduction in CO2 emissions per full-time employee and a 49% reduction in electricity consumption (both compared to our 2019 baseline year). We will continue to reduce our environmental footprint by making more efficient use of our physical space, evaluating our business travel, working near clients, reducing waste, using renewable resources and more.
Connecting with the future of ZS
We welcomed students for the second phase of ZS SEED, an annual cohort development program in partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) that offers career accelerating experience to historically Black college and university (HBCU) students across the U.S. The program helps expand opportunities and provides professional development by giving fellows the experience to work side-by-side with ZSers and deliver real-world solutions for client problems.
Through the campus-engagement program, Campus Beats and hiring initiatives throughout the year, our team will look forward to welcoming more than 1200 students to join ZS next year from 80 plus campuses across India.
We also hosted our first case competition in Germany. This program invited 15 motivated students from various disciplines and universities to join us in our Frankfurt office, where the students had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in a day-long case competition and network with ZSers. The winning team was rewarded with bottles of champagne, chocolates and lots of praise as well as a dash of memorable feedback from our Operating Managing Principal.
Fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture
We introduced two new ZSer-led groups to our firm—Jewish@ZS and Accessibility@ZS. Both bring visibility, support and belonging to not only their own people, but also to other ZSer communities worldwide.
Additionally, we revised our gender representation goal to 50% women and gender expansive ZSers. This shift in language from our original 50/50 goal is more inclusive of all gender identities and reflects the breadth of diversity in our workplace. Reaching gender equality at all levels is a priority for us at ZS, and we will continue to adapt our goals and initiatives based on the evolving needs of our global team.
Improving the health of our communities
We hosted our biggest ZS Cares Day to date. Roughly 2,500 ZSers across 27 offices partnered with nearly 90 organizations and contributed around 12,000 hours of volunteering to causes that support economic stability, education, health access, food security, climate health and more. Learn more about ZS Cares Day 2022 here.
Defining our culture
ZSers around the world came together to reassess ZS culture. OUR ZS Day, a global event that spanned across all offices, offered ZSers an opportunity to Observe, Understand and Reflect on the ZS experience and have a say in how our culture can and should meet the needs of our evolving workforce. Learn more about the insights we discovered here.
Earning global accreditations
Because of our commitment to treating people right, getting it right and doing the right thing, we have built a culture distinguished by collaboration, growth, empathy, equity and empowerment. Built In, Fairygodboss and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation named ZS a best place to work, and our recognitions speak to our collaborative culture and innovative people. Our full list of awards includes Avtar’s Top 10 Best Companies for Women in India, earning the Great Place to Work accreditation in India, U.S. and U.K., and being named on The Economic Times “Best Organizations for Women 2022.”
None of these accomplishments would have been possible without our driven ZSers. Because of our people, ZS makes an impact where it matters.
