ZS is a global collective working to advance environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities and improve the health of our communities around the world. We recently sat down with Akshita Vyas, leader of our corporate social responsibility initiatives in India, to talk about her inspirational journey and how ZSers are using their unique skills and passions as a force for good.
Where passion changes lives
“I have always had a passion for giving back to the community and making a difference in the world,” Akshita shares. “My love for volunteering started early in my career when I realized the power of collective action. I saw how a small group of motivated individuals could come together to achieve something significant and I knew that I wanted to be a part of that.”
After joining ZS, Akshita quickly connected with the firm’s culture and its core values—treat people right, get it right and do the right thing—all three of which serve as the foundation of our ESG initiatives. She says, “ZS supports communities with education, healthcare, environment and economic empowerment. Health equity is close to our hearts. We strive to deliver healthy, fair and sustainable outcomes by integrating ESG priorities into our work, partnerships and operations. In India, we aim to create a meaningful impact through our intervention in preventive healthcare for people living in slums and remote geographies. We strive to provide them the accessibility and affordability to quality healthcare.”
When asked about a project that she feels proud of, Akshita told us about ZS’s donation match program. Launched last year, this initiative empowers ZSers to donate and volunteer at a charity of their choice that ZS then matches. “This platform has worked like magic! Every day, we see multiple requests for donation and volunteer matching,” Akshita says excitedly.
Our powerhouse global team also pursues pro-bono consulting opportunities. Though fully staffed on their day-to-day work, ZSers commit extra time to help nonprofit organizations with data analysis, process optimization and more. They add value to these projects with their unique expertise, skills and most importantly, empathy.
“Giving back can have a profound impact on the individuals involved and the community as a whole. The act of volunteering and pro bono work helps to build a sense of community, empowerment and creates a positive impact for generations,” Akshita says.
Akshita is proud to have found her people at ZS and is excited to be a part of a movement that is changing the world, one volunteer at a time. She believes that together, we can make lasting and meaningful change.
